Katsina State has introduced major reforms to ensure the regular payment of pensions, gratuities and salaries, as well as the prompt promotion of civil servants.
The State Chairman of the Concerned Civil Servants Forum For Good Governance, Alhaji Ya’u Hassan Fardemi, stated this on Monday during the Forum’s visit to Baure, Zango and Sandamu Local Government Areas.
Recall that the Forum had a few weeks back announced plans to embark on a statewide tour of the 34 Local Government Areas of the state.
According to the Chairman, billions of Naira have been committed by the state government to settle outstanding gratuities for retirees.
Alhaji Ya’u Fardemi explained that the tour was designed to help civil servants and other stakeholders to become conversant with the policies and programmes introduced by the administration of Governor Malam Dikko Umaru Radda aimed at improving their welfare.
He added that the exercise would also provide an opportunity to highlight the measures being taken by the State Government to support both serving workers and retirees.
In his remarks, the Director of Local Government Affairs of the Forum, Alhaji Kabir Dayyabu Safana, said civil servants and retirees have benefited from various welfare interventions under the present administration.
Alhaji Kabir Safana highlighted several policies and reforms which were intended to boost workers’ productivity and improve service delivery across the state.
In their respective speeches, the Council Chairman of Baure, represented by the Head of Local Government Administration, Alhaji Hassan Machika, the Council Chairman of Zango, Hon. Babangida Yardaje*, and that of Sandamu, Hon. Usman Nalado, all appreciated the government’s efforts toward improving the welfare of workers and retirees.
They also noted the various interventions by the State Government aimed at strengthening service delivery at both state and local government levels.
The highlight of the event was the inauguration of officials of the Forum in each of the local government areas visited so far.
