Hijrah: Kebbi declares Monday work-free

Kebbi State Government has declared Monday, July 8, as Free-Work day to mark the 1446 New Islamic Year.

Commissioner for Establishment, Auwalu Manu Dogondaji disclosed this in a statement issued to newsmen in Birnin Kebbi

He said the public holiday was sequel to approval by the Kebbi State Governor, Comrade Dr Nasir Idris to enable Muslim Ummah in the state celebrate the incoming New Islamic Year.

 According to him, the 1st of Muharram is expected to be on Sunday, 7th of July, 2024. He, however, said that in view of the importance the state government attached to this Islamic New Year, it had decided to shift the public holiday from Sunday to Monday, 8th of July, 2024.

While extending a warmth and hearty congratulation from the governor to the entire Muslim Ummah across the globe, the commissioner urged them to remain prayerful for leaders at both the state and federal levels to enable them tackle serries of challenges bedeviling the nation.
