…s the presidential campaigns are gathering steam, the presidential candidate of People’s Democratic Party, PDP, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar seems to have lost Benue State.

Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State re-emphasized his anti Atiku/Ayu position regarding the 2023 presidential elections, Tuesday in Makurdi, the Benue State capital.
The anti- Atiku onslaught is being led by Gov Wike of Rivers State and being supported by Gov Ortom and some others.
Mr. Ortom recent accusation against Atiku was  dislhonoring him as governor and acting against the interests of the people of Benue.
His remarks followed the withdrawal of support for Atiku by the Minda Leaders of Thoughts, a group of senior citizens from Benue, citing allegations of hate speech and racial profiling against the Benue people.
Atiku’s remarks regarding the recent killings in Benue state by suspected herdsmen seemed to have enraged Mr. Ortom.
He said that Atiku was associated with Miyetti Allah, a herdsmen organization with a militant wing.
Mr. Ortom remarked on Tuesday at the Chapel of Grace, Government House, Makurdi, “It was not appropriate for a presidential candidate who is wanting to rule the people to say that kind of thing.”
It was seriously wrong. And it seems he doesn’t even think about me or regard me as the governor of my state.
Additionally, Mr. Ortom said that Mr. Atiku had ignored him when assembling his presidential campaign staff.
Ortom declared, “I’m not on his campaign staff. “I didn’t provide my approval for the folks they appointed there. So I’ll be left alone. But I’m waiting; when election day arrives, we’ll cast our votes in accordance to the election.”
