The Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria (FMBN) has pumped more than N7.7 billion to Katsina for the construction of 1,571 housing units across Katsina State.

The development was revealed by the Managing Director/Chief Executive of FMBN, Mr. Madi Hamman  yesterday, during the commissioning of 257 housing units of two- and three-bedroom bungalows in Daura, President Muhammadu Buhari’s hometown.

The housing units were part of the Buhari administration’s effort at “deepening affordable housing ownership and reducing housing deficit” in the country.

The Managing Director was represented by the Executive Director, Loans and Mortgage Services of FMBN, Lukman Mustapha.

According to him, of the 275 housing units commissioned, 80 constructed under the ministerial housing scheme of the bank are for National Housing Fund (NHF) contributors in the state.

He added that the rest  include 69 in Funtua Local Council, 54 in Malumfashi and 54 in Kankia are for Medical and Health Workers Union of Nigeria living at the site areas.

Hamman said: “Eleven other housing projects across the state have also been successfully delivered by FMBN under our various loan windows, in addition to the four we are commissioning today, with the bank committing more than N7.7 billion to deliver 1,571 housing units.

“The concentration of FMBN-sponsored housing projects in Katsina is a testimony to the special position the state occupies in the NHF schemes due to its consistency and unqualified support for the scheme.”

He commended Governor Aminu Masari of Katsina for his consistent support for FMBN.

Gov. Masari, on his part, commended the effort of the Buhari-led administration at making housing available and affordable to low income earners, especially civil servants.

Masari, represented by the Managing Director, Katsina State Housing Authority, Auwalu Abubakar, assured that the state government would always partner organisations to promote the interest of the citizens
