Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda has commended the Katsina State Institute of Technology and Management for its remarkable growth and institutional maturity at its maiden combined convocation ceremony on Saturday, April 25, 2026.

The Governor addressed 1,731 graduands from eight sets spanning 2016 to 2024, celebrating their discipline, hard work, and successful completion of their programmes.

Governor Radda congratulated the Governing Council, Management, Staff, and Students for their resilience and commitment.

“Today, we celebrate excellence, perseverance, and the power of education as a transformative tool. Your journey has been one of discipline and hard work,” the Governor said.

He urged the graduands to carry forward the values acquired at the institute as they step into the next phase of their lives.

The Governor highlighted the institute’s strategic focus on technology and innovation as crucial in the digital economy.

“In an era driven by digital transformation, institutions like KSITM play a crucial role in equipping our youth with relevant skills for the modern economy. The Institute has distinguished itself in digital literacy, vocational training, and technological advancement,” he said.

The Governor described KSITM as a beacon bridging the gap between education and industry.

“This is why we remain committed to supporting institutions that promote innovation, entrepreneurship, and technical expertise. KSITM stands as a beacon of hope, preparing our young people to compete globally,” Governor Radda added.

The Governor commended Professor Isah Ali Pantami, former DG NITDA, for delivering the pre-convocation lecture.

He also praised the institute for conferring Fellowship Awards on four distinguished personalities, including himself.

“This gesture by the Institute serves as encouragement for all of us to continue contributing meaningfully to society,” Governor Radda said.

Addressing the graduand, the Governor said, “The world you are entering is dynamic and competitive, but with determination and the right mindset, you can overcome any challenge. Be job creators, not just job seekers.”

He called on graduates to utilize their knowledge and skills to make meaningful contributions to society.

Governor Radda emphasized that education is the bedrock of sustainable development and a pathway to opportunity, dignity, and shared prosperity.

He called on all stakeholders, including government, the private sector, and development partners to work together in supporting institutions such as KSITM.

The convocation ceremony also conferred Fellowship of the Katsina State Institute of Technology and Management on Governor Dikko Umaru Radda, former Governors Ibrahim Shehu Shema, Rt. Hon. Aminu Bello Masari and the Special Adviser on Political Matters to the President Alhaji Ibrahim Kabir Masari.

Earlier, Rector Dr. Musa Ahmed Zayyad acknowledged Governor Radda’s transformative support for the institute’s growth.

“The support you are giving to the Institute has been the engine of our growth. We remain committed to your vision of turning this Institute into a hub for technical and management manpower development in Katsina State and Nigeria,” Dr. Zayyad said.

The Governor’s administration has made significant investments in the institute. The institute was connected to the national electricity grid for the first time, a historic achievement.

Government released N17.2 million for accreditation of ND and HND programmes and N48.8 million for equipment procurement. N24 million was allocated for workshop and laboratory renovations. N11.8 million was provided for security equipment.

The Governor approved recruitment of 29 academic staff and 6 sabbatical staff. Over 100 solar street lights were installed on campus. Male and female hostels are nearing completion. The institute was connected to main pipe water from Ajiwa dam.

Additionally, the Governor sponsored training of 1,800 Katsina State civil servants in ICT skills and funded the Rector’s study tour to Nairobi, Kenya. A brand new official vehicle was provided for the Rector’s office.

While expressing gratitude, Rector Zayyad made two requests for continued growth. First, he requested an increase in non-academic workforce due to expansion with new ND programmes and first-time HND programmes, rising student enrollment, and completed hostels.

Second, he requested utility vehicles including a students’ bus, ambulance, and official vehicles for the Governing Council Chairman and Principal officers.

“These vehicles are vital to the progress and development of the Institute,” Dr. Zayyad said.
