The second term bids of President Bola Tinubu and Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State received the endorsement of Christian stakeholders from Southern and Northern Kaduna State, pledging to mobilise voters across the 19 Northern states to secure victory for the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidates.

The stakeholders, under the Tinubu-Uba Sani Support Organisation (TUSO), also resolved to establish a national platform for Christian communities across Northern Nigeria to strengthen their political participation and collectively pursue their interests.

The resolutions were contained in a communiqué issued after a Christian stakeholders’ meeting convened by TUSO in Ikara, Kaduna State, on Saturday, October 10, 2026.

The meeting brought together the leadership of the Kaduna State chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), including chairmen from nine local government areas in Northern Kaduna, as well as representatives of Southern Kaduna and community development associations.

Other participants included the Southern Kaduna Leadership Elders’ Council, chairman of the 63 Community Development Associations, Deputy Speaker of the Kaduna State House of Assembly, the political counsellor to Governor Sani, and Professor Dauda Ishaya, outgoing president of Hausa Christians.

According to the communiqué, signed by the convener, Hon. Dr Manzo Daniel Maigari, and TUSO Director-General, Hon. Matthew Kaku, the meeting agreed to strengthen cooperation among Christian leaders and communities in pursuit of their shared political and developmental interests.

The stakeholders said faith and community leaders had important roles to play in articulating the concerns of Christian faithful and ensuring their interests were adequately represented in governance.

They also resolved to extend the initiative beyond Kaduna State by establishing a national organisation covering all 19 Northern states, to create a common platform for political engagement and promote inclusive political outcomes.

Explaining their endorsement of Tinubu and Sani, the stakeholders cited what they described as the performance records of the President and the governor, alongside initiatives they said had addressed longstanding concerns among Christian communities.

They specifically highlighted the establishment of the Federal University of Applied Sciences in Kachia and the Federal Medical Centre in Kafanchan, as well as Governor Sani’s nomination of a Christian as his deputy governorship candidate.

The stakeholders argued that the initiatives provided grounds for supporting the two leaders for another term to enable them to consolidate their respective programmes at the federal and state levels.

They also contrasted the current administration with that of former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai, alleging that Christians had been relegated under his administration.

The group consequently pledged to mobilise Christian voters, particularly in the North-West, to support Tinubu’s re-election bid and the APC governorship candidate in Kaduna State in the 2027 general elections.

The communiqué stated that the mobilisation would focus on strengthening political participation and translating the support of Christian communities into votes for the party’s candidates.

Beyond electoral mobilisation, the stakeholders called on Christian political leaders to put collective interests above personal ambitions, warning that internal disagreements could undermine their shared objectives.

They urged political and religious leaders within the Christian community to work together and eliminate divisions capable of weakening the organisation’s activities.

The meeting also emphasised the need for greater cooperation between Christians from Southern and Northern Kaduna, saying both groups must be carried along in the pursuit of their collective interests.

However, the stakeholders stressed that their endorsement of Tinubu and Sani came with expectations of fairness, inclusiveness and accountability in governance.

They said Christian voters expected the two leaders to reciprocate their support by ensuring equitable distribution of democratic dividends and addressing the aspirations of communities across Kaduna State and Northern Nigeria.

The communiqué added that the leaders would be held accountable for fulfilling those expectations.

The stakeholders maintained that unity among Christian communities, sustained political engagement and coordinated voter mobilisation would be central to achieving their objectives ahead of the 2027 elections.
