The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has intensified its political mobilisation ahead of the 2027 general elections, unveiling a new campaign structure aimed at expanding its influence and securing electoral victories across the North-West geopolitical zone.

The party inaugurated its North-West Campaign Council after a strategic meeting involving members of its zonal caucus, governorship candidates, senatorial candidates, House of Representatives hopefuls, State House of Assembly candidates and other major stakeholders in Sokoto State on Friday.

As part of the new arrangement, Alhaji Nuradeen Lawal Chindo was appointed chairman of the campaign council, while Dr Bello Shehu emerged as secretary.

The appointments were announced in a statement by Dr Christopher Okechukwu, Director of Media and Publicity and Spokesperson of the 2027 ADC Presidential Campaign Council.

According to Okechukwu, the newly inaugurated council is expected to coordinate the party’s campaign machinery, provide strategic leadership and strengthen political engagement across the seven states in the North-West.

He explained that the meeting was organised to reconcile different positions within the party, strengthen cooperation among candidates and stakeholders, and establish a common strategy for the forthcoming elections.

The inauguration was presided over by Bala Sani Kumo, Deputy Director-General (North) of the ADC Presidential Campaign Council, while the party’s Director of Legal and Litigation, Chief Cletus Okoye, SAN, administered the oath of office.

Speaking at the event, Kumo challenged members of the council to immediately begin building a formidable and inclusive campaign structure capable of extending the party’s reach to communities across the region.

He also stressed the importance of giving youths, women and persons with disabilities prominent roles in the party’s mobilisation efforts, insisting that their participation must be reflected in the council’s activities and political engagements.

The ADC maintained that its growing campaign structure would be driven by unity, inclusiveness and issue-based politics, with a focus on promoting good governance, peace and sustainable development.

The development signals the party’s determination to strengthen its presence in the North-West, a politically significant region with seven states, as political parties intensify preparations for the 2027 general elections.
