Kaduna Energy Reform Watch (KEREWA) has applauded Governor Uba Sani for what it described as six major strategic wins arising from Kaduna State’s expanding renewable energy drive, saying “the initiative has positioned the state as a rising model for subnational energy reform in Nigeria.2026.

At a meeting chaired by the group’s Director of Strategic Communications, Hadiza Mohammed, the group said the governor’s renewable energy push goes beyond policy optics, but set to deliver concrete economic, social and investment dividends for the state.

The group said the first major win lies in the deliberate expansion of electricity access to rural and underserved communities through decentralised renewable solutions, a move it said directly confronts energy poverty and decades of exclusion from the national grid.

KEREWA identified the second win as Kaduna’s growing attractiveness to investors, noting that the partnership framework around renewable energy has opened the door for private capital, development finance and clean-energy entrepreneurs seeking stable policy environments at the subnational level.

The group said the initiative strengthens Kaduna’s industrial base, particularly small and medium-scale enterprises, agro-processors and manufacturers, by providing more reliable and affordable power that reduces production costs and enhances competitiveness.

It described the fourth win as the successful alignment of policy with execution, arguing that the renewable energy push demonstrates regulatory clarity and political seriousness—two elements investors often find lacking at the state level.

The fifth strategic gain, according to them, is the emphasis on decentralised solar and clean-energy systems, which it said allow for faster deployment, scalability and environmental sustainability compared to conventional grid expansion.

KEREWA added that the sixth and most far-reaching win is the consolidation of Governor Uba Sani’s development philosophy—one anchored on inclusion, sustainability and economic growth—while firmly positioning Kaduna as a frontrunner in Nigeria’s renewable energy transition.

It stressed that taken together, the six wins show the renewable energy push is not symbolic, but structural, future-focused and economically strategic, with long-term implications for jobs, investment and industrial growth.

The CSO urged stakeholders to rally behind the initiative, insisting that Kaduna’s energy reforms under Uba Sani reflect governance driven by impact rather than rhetoric.
