Kebbi Govt. constructs, renovates over 100 Mosques

The Kebbi State Government says it has constructed and renovated over 100 Mosques across the state.

Gov  Nasir Idris, Kauran Gwandu, disclosed this at the formal commissioning of Sheik Abdullahi Fodio Juma’at Mosque, Badariya in Birnin Kebbi on Friday.

The newly constructed Mosque was built by a Kebbi based philanthropist, Alhaji Ibrahim Bagudu and handed over to Jama’atu Izalatil Bid’a Wa’iqamatis Sunnah (JIBWIS), Kebbi State.

Represented by the Deputy Governor, Alhaji Umar Abubakar-Tafida, recalled that: “The state government has constructed and renovated over 100 Juma’at Mosques across the state.”

He encouraged Muslim Ummah to borrow a leave from Ibrahim Bagudu and urged them to build more Islamic and western education schools for the benefit of all.

In his speech, Sheik Abdullahi Bala-Lau, JIBWIS National Chairman, cautioned Imams (Islamic Clerics leading Juma’at prayer) not to turn pulpits into political arena.

Bala-Lau urged Islamic Clerics to use Mosques purely for prayer, teaching and learning Islamic values.

Presenting the Imam for the Mosque, Malam Munzir Abbas-Jega, the national chairman said he was pick based on merit, adding that he was truly a learned person as he had bagged his PhD.

While advising the new Imam to fear God Almighty in discharging his duties, Bala-Lau called on the followers to accord the new Imam his due respect regardless of his age.

On his part, Alhaji Ibrahim Bagudu appreciated all for their contribution towards the success and completion of the Mosque, saying: “the construction of the Mosque has taken a very long time, both government and individuals contributed to its completion o.”

He appealed to Muslim community to always play their role by contributing actively to the development of Islam.

Those in attendance were; Speaker Kebbi State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Muhammad Usman Ankwai, Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Garba Umar Dutsinmari, Commissioner for Finance, Hon. Abubakar Muhammad Birnin Kebbi and Rep. Bello Ka’oje, member, Suru/Bagudo federal constituency, APC State party chairman mong others.
