The salaries of public sector workers will be reviewed to mitigate the impact of the removal of petrol subsidy, President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, has announced.
Recall that President Bola Tinubu had previously declared the removal of the subsidy during his inaugural speech on May 29.and the pump price of petrol has surged across the country since then.

Sen Akpabio defended the subsidy removal during a meeting with Ekiti Governor, Abiodun Oyebanji, in Abuja stating that Nigeria would not have survived the next few years if thesubsidy had remained in place. He also mentioned that the salaries and wages of workers would be adjusted to ensure they receive a living wage.
Akpabio praised the dedication and commitment of the representatives from Ekiti in the 10th National Assembly, affirming the Senate’s collaboration with Ekiti state for the benefit of all Nigerians.
In response, Governor Oyebanji expressed his support for the Senate’s success.
