In an effort to fast track development of Katsina State, Gov Dikko Radda has launched Katsina State Community Development Programme (KSCDP).

The programme was launched in Funtua Senatorial District on Sunday September 1, 2024 with government officials, political, traditional and religious leaders, community leaders, women and youth from the 11 Local Government Areas that made up the Senatorial Zone in attendance

The objectives of the KSCDP are increase in participation and development in governance; enhance infrastructure and accessibility; address socio-economic injustice; promote peace building and conflict resolution; environmental sustainability and climate resilience.

Recall that when Dikko Radda, during his electioneering campaigns went round the 361 wards in the 34 LGAs of the state pledged to maximally use the state’s resources  to ensure the development of the state; based on the needs and desires of the various communities.

Although Dikko Radda has done remarkably well, in terms of addressing major challenges facing the state such as serious insecurity, unemployment, poverty, among others, the launching of the KSCDP is another milestone and a paradigm shift in governance.

There was also a town hall meeting with critical stakeholders from the zone to sensitize them on the modus operandi of the KDCDP in the state

The launching and the tow hall meeting will also hold in Daura Senatorial Zone Monday and Katrina Central on Tuesday, 2nd and 3rd September respectively.

Commenting on the initiatives, a critical political stakeholder from Funtua Senatorial Zone, Alhaji Bala Abu Musawa, acknowledged the efforts made in tackling security issues in the state by the governor, he however called on him to improve and put more effort.

Musawa also suggested that all elected officials should emulate the governor by going back to their constituencies and listen to their people, and address their needs.
He equally called on community members in the zone to come together to not only support the Government but by proactively participating in addressing the security challenges in their various communities.
Speaking on Government effort on security at the launching, state Commissioner for Internal Security, Dr. Nasir Dan Musa, said the Katsina State Govt has spent over N30 billion in addressing security challenges in the state over the last one year.
Dr Dan Musa therefore expressed disappointment, asking “why and where have Government failed to overcome banditry?”.
He however opined that security responsibility is every citizens’ business, noting that if the communities cooperate with the government, the issue of security challenges would be overcome within three months.
