The management of Dawanau International Grains Market in Dawakin Tofa Local Government Area of Kano State has engaged the services of about 800 additional security personnel to provide additional security for the market.
The President of the market association, Alhaji Muntaka Isa was reported telling the media on Monday that the measure would effectively protect the market from vandalism and theft.
He highlighted the collaborative efforts of the Nigerian Army, Police, and state security agencies, which have significantly enhanced the market’s security.
He said that an additional 400 vigilance group members were working alongside the security personnel to safeguard the market.
The market has faced threats from hoodlums in neighbouring areas, such as Kurnan Asabe and Bachirawa, who had attempted to forcefully enter and steal food items.
Isa said the market’s management was committed to continuing its support for the security personnel deployed to protect public buildings against vandalism.
Isa urged the residents of the neighbouring communities to assist the security personnel by providing credible information on the movement of hoodlums.
