Protest: Kebbi Police ready

Ahead of August 1st Scheduled nationwide protest, the Kebbi State Police Command has taken proactive measures against vandalisation, Looting and other criminal activities during the protest.

While addressing the personnel deployed at strategies local government areas , Commissioner of Police of the state,  Bello M Sani told journalists that over 5000 officers were dispatched to protect lives and properties of the people in the state.
 He said “I am highly delighted and honoured to welcome you to Kebbi State Police Command Headquarters, Birnin Kebbi, with a view to keep you abreast  on the level of our preparedness towards ensuring conducive atmosphere during the expected peaceful protest organized by some groups on 1st August, 2024 across federation.
 “As we are all aware that, Nigerians have the constitutional right to organize peaceful protest for the best reason known to them, the Kebbi State Police Command in collaboration with other security agencies will not hesitate to clampdown on any group of people that might attempt to cause disturbance of public peace or unwanted destruction of critical public infrastructures in the disguise of peaceful protest in Kebbi State” CP Sani warned
.
According to him, threat analysis has been conducted, whereby the trouble areas/makers in the state have been identified and the Police tactical teams in synergy with other security agencies has been deployed with a view to forestaling any unforeseen circumstances.
 He requested all groups planning for this peaceful protest to provide the command with the following details, Proposed routes and assembly points, expected duration of the protest, names and contact details of leaders and measures to prevent hijacking the protest by criminal elements in order to enable the Command provide adequate security during and after the protest, design specific measures to avoid conflict, establish clear communication with protest leaders and minimize the risk of violence and other criminal activities in the state.
The police boss therefore appealed to the protester to work closely with the Police and other security agencies, follow the law and adhere to the international standards for peaceful assembly with a view to ensure their rights are exercised safely and successfully without any hitch.
He assured the peace loving people of Kebbi State to go about their lawful businesses on the date slated for the planned peaceful protest, as security agencies in the State are fully prepared and determined to guarantee their security and safety.
