The Executive Director Katsina State Pilgrims Welfare Board, Alhaji Yunusa Abdullahi Dankama,has Called on the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria, NAHCON, to secure government-priced dollars for intending pilgrims for 2024 Hajj.
Alhaji Dankama made the call at a meeting organized by Arewa New Agenda held at the Auditorium of Katsina pilgrims welfare board.
A statement signed and issued by Badaru Bello karofi, the Public Relations Officer of Katsina State Pilgrims Welfare Board said the Executive Director was concerned with the cost of this years hajj and the limited timr frame for payment are serious challenges.
Alhaji Dankama thanked the Executive Governor of Katsina State Mallam Dikko Umar Radda for approving the payment of the fare of 200 officials from the 34 LGA of the state in addition to 130 preachers and other board officials for the 2024 Hajj exercise.
Dankama further said there is need for the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria to announce the 2024 Hajj fares, adding that the meeting organized by the Arewa New Agenda was aimed at sensitizing all stakeholders on Hajj for them to work hard towards making 2024 Hajj exercise a success.
The leader of Arewa New Agenda Dr Salisu Muhammed assured the Executive Director and other stakeholders on Hajj exercise in Katsina State that they are committed to collaborating with relevant authorities, including religious leaders, to appeal to the President to provide dollar subsidies to Nigeria’s 2024 intending pilgrims.
Dr.Salisu Muhammed noted that 95 thousand Hajj slots have been allocated to Nigeria by Saudi authority for 2024 Hajj and the association want the Nigerian pilgrims to fill it all before the expiration of the deadline.
In his remarks, the Chairman of the Board Alhaji Kabir Bature Sarkin Alhazai represented by Dr Aliyu Umar Imam Radda, one of the board member said the Board is always committed to working with the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria to address the current challenges and enhance the overall pilgrimage process.
The meeting was attended by all management staff of the Board, Zonal Pilgrims Welfare Board Officers and their assistants, Ulamas and business communities across the state among others.
