The embattled House leader of the Nigerian House of Representatives, Hon.Alhassan Ado Doguwa has joined the contest for the speaker ship of the 10th House of Representatives, saying he has the experience to run the affairs of the House.
Hon Doguwa made the remarks in an interview with Arise Tv, saying he has been in the legislature since 1992 and he has garnered a lot of experience over the years.
He argued that the position of the Speakership has to do with the institutional understanding of how the house works. He, therefore, demanded that the speaker ticket should be zoned to the North West because of how the region contributed to the victory of Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
According to him, when it comes to the North West it’s his turn.
He said, ”When you are talking about my cognitive legislative experience, that is also another factor. I have been in the house right since July 1992, by ranking I should be the next Speaker. If you go by institutional experience and institutional memory which has always been very significant and critical to the sustenance of institutional ideas, then definitely some of these factors must count.
I feel with the experience that I have gathered over these years, about 30 years within the corridors or the floors of the House of Representatives, I have gathered enough experience than my colleagues. With all sense of humility, they should consider such and allow me to preside over the house
