There are three highly rated candidates under the political microscope of political observers and analysts if Kano politics today. Its anyone chance among the candidates presented by ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP and the New Nigeria Peoples Party, NNPP. Each of the three candidates has his areas of strength and weakness that might attract voters or otherwise
Sani Bala Karo has xrayed the three candidates and arrived at the the conclusion as to who becomes the next governor of Kano State after Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, Khadimul Islam.
 Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna

Nasir Gawuna
Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna is the Incumbent Deputy Governor and Commissioner of Agriculture and has worked with two past Governors of the state- Rabiu Kwankwaso and Ibrahim Shekarau in different capacities as commissioner and Local Government Chairman.
He is reported of enjoying political support of the establishments ie traditional rulers, business community, section of religious leaders and Elders in the state.
Gawuna is naturally calm, polite, diplomatic and cautious in his utterances and dealings, This earns him  respect even by opposition supporters and gladiators of Kano politics
His chances of victory largely hinges on his personality traits, qualities, eloquence and public speaking skills
His greatest challenge is the large and cult like followership of Kwankwasiyya Movement.
Abba Kabir Yusuf

Abba Yusuf
An Engineer by profession and Son-in-law to Rabiu Kwankwaso. He
served as Commissioner of Works between 2011-2015 in Kwankwaso administration and enjoys the patronage of his father-in-law
Abba is highly popular among the youths and women in solidarity for kwankwaso, He is naturally calm and reserved yet an average public speaker,
The priority of his party blueprint is education,
His chances of winning the election hinge on the patronage of his father-in-law,
His main challenge is the fear of establishment support for Gawuna and possible solidarity votes from Shekarau’s camp in PDP,
Alh Sadiq Aminu Wali

Sadiq Aminu Wali
Alh Sadiq Aminu Wali is a biological son to PDP stalwart Aminu Bashir Wali, Served as Commissioner in the cabinet of Governor Ganduje
Prior to his appointment as Commissioner little was known about him politically in the state, Some political observers suggest that Sadiq is believed to be in the race to either frustrate the Kwankwasiyya remnants in the party or protect the interest of Governor Ganduje by proxy,
He is a quiet person but not as eloquent as other contenders, His policies and priority are not known,
His chances of winning seems to be very slim due to lack of formidable structure within his party.
