Akwa Ibom gubernatorial contest: PDP replaces Umuna with Obong Ekere

The Akwa Ibom State chapter of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP has sacked its governorship candidate, Umana Umana, from the party. the State Chairman of the party, Obong Paul Ekpo, has announced at a press conference held in Uyo, the state capital.

Some the reasons for actions include “gross misconduct” The party chairman said that Umana had failed to adhere to the party’s ideals and principles, and had not been loyal to the party. He also accused Umana of engaging in activities that were detrimental to the party’s interests.

The PDP has now named Obong Nsima Ekere as its new governorship candidate. Ekpo said that Ekere was chosen because of his loyalty to the party and his commitment to the ideals and principles of the PDP. He also said that Ekere had the necessary experience and qualifications to lead the state. The PDP is confident that Ekere will be able to deliver the party’s manifesto and bring development to the state
