The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Alh Atiku Abubakar has been endorsed by the South South Governors of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) after a meeting in Yenegoa, the capital of Bayelsa state, Wednesday.
The Yenegoa meeting was attended by Godwin Obaseki (Edo), Ifeanyi Okowa (Delta), Udom Emmanuel (Akwa Ibom) and the host Duoye Diri (Bayelsa). But, Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike was absent from the assembly. Wike led the G5 group, which saddened the emergence of a northerner as PDP’s presidential candidate and the party’s national chairman (Iyorchiya Ayu). They repeatedly demanded the removal of Ayu.
Governor Obaseke of Edo State addressed the media after the meeting saying the meeting should support Atiku and Oko ahead of the 2023 general elections. He said the regional governors of the party met in Bayelsa to consult with colleagues who were recently devastated by floods.
“We have the PDP South-South Governors’ Forum and our vice-presidential candidate, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa is our chairman and we have decided to hold a forum meeting tonight in Bayelsa. so much on the water crisis,” he said.
“Also, it gives us an opportunity to discuss issues of concern with PDP governors before the next presidential and national elections.
“Also, we want to use this opportunity to express our support and update our brother, the candidate for Vice President Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa on the progress at the national level and reiterate our universal support for the candidacy of President Atiku Abubakar. to assure that we have arrived.”
