Hon Isa Ashiru used the opportunity to unveil his agenda for Kaduna State if given the mandate in the 2023 elections. The agenda includes delivery on security,

Agriculture, Women and Youth Empowerment, Education and Health.

The PDP Governorship flag bearer noted with serious concern, the deteriorating security situation which has brought sleepless nights, untold hardships as well as distrust, disunity among the citizenry and vowed to bring it to an end.

“A situation where people from one section of the state dominates the others will be a thing of the past, as we have demonstrated that in 1999- – 2015. Things did not fall apart as they are today because PDP will bring it to an end,” he said.

Speaking on agriculture which he said is the largest employer of labour, he noted that insecurity has also affected the sector, but lack of leadership has rather aggravated the situation as people could no longer go to the farm.

“Farmers would be made to go back to farm and supported with farm inputs while subsidy on fertilizer would be restored, and most of the abandoned agricultural agencies would be revived to attract foreign grants.”

On the moribund textile industry in the state, Ashiru said Kaduna State was known for textile industry since the era of the Sardauna of Sokoto, because the conditions for siting industry were then available.

He however said those conditions apart from land, are no more there; conditions like electricity, raw materials and security which is paramount.

In view of above, he said there has been deliberate efforts towards transferring the 30 megawatts of electricity that will soon start generation from Gurara Water Falls to Kudenda Industrial area in Kaduna, thus, 20 megawatts will come to Kaduna and 10 megawatts will go to the Southern zone.

He said, the 20 megawatts transmission line that will transmit power from Gurara Water Falls to Kudenda is almost completed.

According to him, the second alternative to power generation, which is readily available, but the issue is that of transporting gas from Port-Harcourt through the turbines under construction and about to be completed.

He averred that this is the only area when power is on ground, that is guaranteed people will come back to Kaduna to invest. “Kaduna is the heaven for all in Nigeria. It’s a peaceful place and we will make sure that peace is sustain to guarantee the resuscitation of textile industry in the state.

“We will do whatever is humanly possible to ensure that within the first one year in office, the 20 megawatts transmission line from Gurara Water Falls to Kudenda is completed. And also push harder to make sure that we bring back investors to Kaduna.

“When we have all these basic things on ground, bringing in investors will not be a problem because we have that at the back of our minds,” he said.

On education, the PDP flag bearer, promised to introduce skilled based education to produce employable products especially artisans.

Earlier, in her welcome address, the NUJ State Council Chairman, Hajiya Asm’au Halilu, pledged to create a level playing ground for all the candidates.

She assured the PDP Governorship hopeful and his campaign team, that her members would be committed to doing the needful.
