The Governing Council of Federal University Dutsin-Ma (FUDMA), Katsina State, has approved the promotion of 609 senior teaching and non-teaching staff of the university.

The promotion, which takes effect from October 1, 2026, followed the completion of the university’s 2026 Promotion Exercise.
A statement by the Director of the Directorate of Human Resources Management, Mr Lawal Yakub Olarewaju, said the exercise began in June with the issuance of a promotion call memo by the Registry Department.
The breakdown showed that 16 senior teaching staff were promoted to the rank of professors, while 19 were promoted to the rank of readers, subject to favourable external assessments.
In the non-teaching category, two senior staff were promoted to Directors, four to Deputy Registrars, one to Deputy Bursar and four to Deputy Directors.
According to the statement, the eligible staff were considered by various committees before being recommended to the Central Appointments and Promotion Committee (CAPC), chaired by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Mohammed Khalid Othman.
The CAPC subsequently submitted the list of eligible senior staff to the Governing Council for approval.
The university said the beneficiaries had received congratulatory messages through their emails on behalf of the Vice-Chancellor and were notified to collect their promotion letters from the Directorate of Human Resources Management from October 2, 2026.
It added that this was the first time in the history of the university that promotion letters were issued on the first working day of October.
The promotion exercise was supervised under the leadership of the university’s Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council, HE Ali Abubakar Jatau, and the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Mohammed Khalid Othman.
