The Katsina State Government has introduced a training program for SS II to SS III students in all government secondary schools across the 34 Local Government Areas of the state.
The Special Adviser to the Governor on Local Government Affairs, Hon. Lawal Rufa’i Safana, disclosed this on Thursday during a stakeholder engagement on the program, held at the main conference hall of the Ministry in Katsina.
Hon. Safana said the objective of the program is to train students in Computer Literacy, so that they become familiar with computers and how to use them for modern Computer-Based Examinations such as JAMB and others.
He expressed concern over how students, especially those in rural areas, are failing these examinations because they do not know computers, let alone how to operate them.
On his part, the State ALGON Chairman Hon. Rabo Tambaya Danja applauded the foresight of the State Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda as the programme was the first to be conducted since the emergence of the state. He equally commended the Special Adviser Lawal Rufa’i Safana for the facilitation.
The Project Director Madubi Digital Consult handling the project Alhaji Sani Yaro Muhammad alongside Technical Lead Alhaji Abdulrahman and the State Coordinator, Alhaji Surajo Jibrin extensively explained the mode of the programme.
The programme is expected to commence on 24th August – 4Th October, 2026 and 4 local government areas will be covered per day.
The engagement include 34 LG Directors of Education and Social Services, ALGON Chairman and Chairman of Heads of Local Government Administration Forum.
“This is what worried the State Governor a lot, and that is why he approved the implementation of this program,” he said.
He further stated that the Local Government Councils will play a key role in ensuring the successful implementation of the program across all 34 LGAs, so that every student benefits regardless of their location.
The initiative is in line with Governor Dikko Umaru Radda’s commitment to improving the standard of education and preparing Katsina students to compete favorably in national examinations.
