Kebbi State Govt Washes off it:s hands from ADC Crisis

The Kebbi State Government has denied allegations linking it to the ongoing court case involving two factional chairmen of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in the state.

In a press release signed by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Ahmed  Idris, and made available to newsmen in Birnin Kebbi, the government denied involvement in the face off.

“Our attention has been drawn to publications in Vanguard and Punch newspapers of Monday, April 20, 2026, alleging that the Kebbi State Government is behind the court case between two factional ADC chairmen in the state.

“We wish to categorically state that the Kebbi State Government is neither a member of the ADC nor does it have any affiliation with the party.

“The ADC has been embroiled in a leadership tussle for a long time. It is this same crisis that led the two factional leaders to court, with both factions claiming supremacy.”

The authors of the reports have not only abused the ethics of the journalism profession but may have also acted in a manner that amounts to contempt of court.

Investigations reveal that the authors of the story were not present in court, yet proceeded to publish a one-sided account. The report was neither balanced nor reflective of the principles of fairness, equity, and professionalism.

“Therefore, we appeal to journalists to always ensure strict compliance with professional ethics in the discharge of their constitutional responsibilities.

“In the report, one of the factional chairmen was quoted accusing the state government of using the court against him. On what basis?

“This is not an APC affair but an internal dispute within the ADC, which requires internal mechanisms for resolution rather than casting unfounded accusations on others.”

It could be recalled that a factional Chairman of ADC in Kebbi State, Abdulrasak Abubakar has dragged his rival chairman in the state, Safiyyanu Bala, before a Chief Magistrates’ Court sitting in Birnin Kebbi over alleged contempt of court.
