The power outage affecting Nigeria but essentially the North has unsettled senators from Northern Nigeria.

It is in view of the hardship caused by the power outage the Northern Senators Forum has charged  the Federal Government of Nigeria to act quickly and bring energy back to the states of Jigawa, Katsina, and Kano, where citizens have been suffering from severe power shortages.

Speaking in Katsina on Saturday, Senator Abdulaziz Yar’adua, the Forum’s chairman, emphasized the urgency of the situation and the need for swift action to lessen the suffering endured by people in these areas.

He said, “The prolonged outages, primarily attributed to vandalism and national grid disturbances, have caused significant economic strain. Small businesses struggle to survive, hospitals face mounting operational costs, and residents bear the burden of expensive fuel as an alternative energy source.”

The forum responded by outlining specific demands for government action to stabilize and enhance the power supply in the states that were impacted.

Among these are an urgent request to speed Shiroro-Kaduna transmission line repairs in order to restore a dependable supply, as well as the installation of security measures to stop additional damage to power infrastructure
