Reports from the Defence Headquarters has confirmed the death of 15 military personnel two Majors, one Captain, and 12 soldiers.during a communal clash in Delta State.
A statement released on Saturday by the Director of Defence Information, Brig. Gen. Gusau expressed the profound sadness and sorrow felt by the Defence Headquarters over the loss of these brave soldiers.
The incident occurred as the troops responded to a distress call amidst a clash between the Okuama and Okoloba communities in Delta State on Thursday.
Brig. Gen. Tukur Gusau said the soldiers were on a peacekeeping mission to the Okuoma community in Bomadi Local Government Area when they were attacked and killed by youths from the community.
Tragically, the commanding officer leading the reinforcement team was among those who lost their lives in the clash.
The incident serves as a stark reminder of the dangers faced by military personnel while serving on peace missions in conflict-prone areas
