Darma, Housing Minister,  Leads 15th Meeting of National Council On Housing

Minister of Housing and Urban Development,  Engr Muttaqha Rabe Darma, PhD, is set to lead stakeholders in the Housing Sector to Sokoto for the 15th Meeting of the National Council on Land, Housing and Urban Development.

The 15th meeting, with the theme “ Strengthening Mortgage, Land and Institutional Systems for Accelerated and Inclusive Housing Delivery,” will hold from 12th to 16th October, 2026.

It is designed to provide a strategic platform for stakeholders across the housing and urban development sector to deliberate on critical issues affecting land administration, housing finance, mortgage systems, institutional reforms and others

A release by Badamasi Haiba,  Fsca, mnipr, Director Press and Public Relations on October 2, 2026 said the  Council will bring together States’ Commissioners and Permanent Secretaries responsible for Housing and Urban Development, General Managers/Chief Executive Officers of Housing Corporations, State Surveyor-Generals, professionals, regulatory agencies and other stakeholders in the built environment.

The annual gathering is expected to facilitate meaningful discussions on practical strategies for strengthening the systems and institutions required to expand access to affordable and inclusive housing across the country.

It will also provide an opportunity for the Federal Government, States and other stakeholders to review developments in the housing sector, share experiences and identify areas requiring greater collaboration and coordinated action.

The meeting is being convened under the leadership of the Honourable Minister and Minister of State, Housing and Urban Development, Engr. Muttaqha Rabe Darma, PhD,  and Rt Honourable Yusuf Abdullahi Ata.

Permanent Secretary,  Dr Shuaib Belgore stated  ” the council meeting is in  line with the Ministry’s efforts to promote sustainable housing delivery and strengthen the institutional framework supporting the sector”

Executive Governor of Sokoto State, His Excellency Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto, PhD, ACIT, FCNA, is scheduled to serve as the Special Guest of Honour at the meeting.

The National Council on Land, Housing and Urban Development remains an important platform for policy coordination between the Federal Government and the States, particularly in addressing challenges relating to land administration, housing delivery, urban development and access to housing finance.

The Federal Ministry of Housing and Urban Development therefore looks forward to productive engagements with all participating stakeholders as the Council seeks to advance accelerated, sustainable and inclusive housing delivery nationwide.pi
