The sum of N837.5 million recovered from two separate fraud cases have returned to the Government of Katsina State by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
The money was formally presented on Monday at the EFCC Kano Zonal Directorate. The recoveries stemmed from investigations into the diversion of public funds linked to tax remittances and the state treasury.
Details from the EFCC show that one case involved the recovery of ₦547,015,389 from the alleged diversion of nearly ₦1.3 billion in statutory tax, while the second case made up the balance to reach the total of ₦837,485,389 handed over.
The Acting Zonal Director commended the commission’s commitment to recovering proceeds of crime and ensuring that diverted public funds are returned to their rightful owners for the benefit of the people.
