Kaduna State Government has reopened 535 schools and 85 health facilities previously shut due to insecurity, while construction was ongoing on the 35-kilometre Bagoma–Gagumi Road linking 62 farming communities in Birnin Gwari Local Government Area, while contract for the Mando–Birnin Gwari Road project has been awarded.
This was revealed by Gov Uba Sani Sani on Tuesday during the breaking of Ramadan fast with members of the Kaduna State House of Assembly in Kaduna
Ina the party primaries to select candidates for the 2027 elections, the governor said he has no announced aspirant and would not interfere in the process that will produce candidates for elective positions and urged urged all aspirants seeking elective offices to canvass support from party members rather than rely on political godfathers.
“My advice to every aspirant who is seeking any office is to get the support of party members. I have no anointed candidates in the coming primaries that will take place between April and May this year. I will abide by what the people decide,” he said.
Gov Sani stressed that the primaries must be transparent and credible to ensure unity within the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.
“I will not interfere with the primaries or the selection process. Whoever emerges as the choice of the people will have my full support,” the governor added.
He, however, stated that his only preferred candidate remained Bola Tinubu, whom he promised to support for re-election in 2027.
He advise party members to close ranks and work towards the success of the APC at all levels and called on aspirants who may lose out in the primaries to resist the temptation of working against the party.
“At one point, I was shortchanged during the APC congress under the previous administration, and most of my supporters were prevented from clinching party positions.
“At that time, some people wanted me to work against the party. I told them I would not work against the house that I helped to build. As God would have it, I am the governor today,” Sani recalled.
He cautioned that opposition parties might attempt to exploit internal grievances, especially after the primaries, to weaken the APC.
“The opposition will try to instigate some members, especially after the primaries, because our party is the only party that is still standing. We should resist this temptation. The party belongs to all of us,” he said.
The governor also alleged that the opposition would capitalise on the country’s security challenges to campaign against the APC in 2027, insisting that the situation in Kaduna State had improved since he assumed office in 2023.
