The Nigerian Association of Small Scale Industries (NASSI), Katsina State Chapter has been

commended for its unwavering efforts in promoting the growth and sustainability of small and medium-scale enterprises, describing the sector as a vital pillar for economic empowerment and job creation at the grassroots.

The commendation was given by the Katsina State

Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Malam Yusuf Sulaiman Jibia,  when he received NASSI delegation lead by the Chairman of the Association, Alhaji Abdullahi Ahmed K/Soro, who was represented by the Deputy State Chairman, Alhaji Aliyu Ibrahim Maiwada during a courtesy visit.

NASSI was established in 1978 by the National Planning Commission as an umbrella body dedicated to protecting the welfare, survival, and growth of small and medium-scale industries across Nigeria.

The meeting was held in a friendly and constructive atmosphere, with both sides expressing a strong commitment to the continued development of Katsina State.

Malam Yusuf Sulaiman Jibia reaffirmed the commitment of the administration of Gov Dikko Umar Radda to supporting small-scale industries as part of broader efforts to stimulate economic growth and improve livelihoods. He noted that the present administration remains deliberate in creating opportunities for local businesses to participate meaningfully in government projects.

The Commissioner assured the delegation that the Ministry remains open to partnerships with credible associations like NASSI, particularly in initiatives that can strengthen service delivery within the education sector while empowering local artisans and entrepreneurs.

Earlier, the Chairman of the Association, Alhaji Abdullahi Ahmed K/Soro described NASSI as a network of affiliated associations working collectively to advance industrial development.

He stated that the purpose of their visit was to seek the inclusion of NASSI’s metal and carpentry and other affiliates among the beneficiaries of this year’s fabrication and supply contracts for classroom furniture and students’ boarding school beds across the State. He emphasized that engaging local craftsmen would not only enhance quality assurance but also boost the local economy.

The visit concluded on a positive note, with both parties expressing optimism about strengthening collaboration for the advancement of education and economic development in Katsina State.
