Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, has launched an empowerment program for 500 women who have completed vocational training, organized by the Auwal Lawal Daura (ALD) Foundation.
The event held today in Daura, the initiative is designed to equip women with essential business and vocational skills while providing financial support to help them start or expand their enterprises. Each participant received an initial funding package to boost their capital and kickstart their ventures, various businesses.
Among the various types of businesses supported were sewing, shoemaking, soap making, perfume, cooking oil, and other fragrance-related enterprises
In his remarks, Governor Radda commended the ALD Foundation for its commitment to empowering women and youth.
He highlighted the importance of such programs in promoting community development, economic independence, and responsible citizenship.
“This initiative is not only about skills acquisition but also about strengthening families and uplifting communities,” he said.
Governor Radda also pledged additional financial support to ensure that the women can fully apply the skills they have acquired, emphasizing that the people of Katsina remain the primary beneficiaries of empowerment programs.
Earlier, Alhaji Auwal Lawal Daura, Chairman of the ALD Foundation, expressed gratitude to Governor Radda for his unwavering support.
He praised the State Government’s dedication to uplifting women and youth, highlighting the Foundation’s focus on skills development, entrepreneurship, and community empowerment.
“When women are empowered, they not only support their households but also contribute positively to the broader society,” Daura added.
The event was attended by senior government officials, including Hon. Abdulkadir Mamman Nasir, Chief of Staff to the Governor, other top officials, and hundreds of beneficiaries.
