There are reports indicating that police operatives are taking over the national Secretariat of the Peoples DemocraticPolice takes over PDP secretariat Party, PDP
This is coning amid fears of a violent confrontation between rival factions scheduled for Monday.
The tension followed an announcement by the Abdulrahman Mohammed-led caretaker committee, which is reportedly backed by FCT Minister Nyesom Wike.
The group plans to forcefully reopen the “Wadata Plaza” headquarters, which has been sealed by the police since November 2025 following previous violent outbursts.
The opposing faction, led by Tanimu Turaki, has reacted sharply to the reopening plot. National Publicity Secretary Ini Ememobong dismissed the move as a “roller coaster of self-deceit,” insisting that members of the caretaker committee remain expelled from the party.
Ememobong warned that any attempt to occupy the secretariat would be a “resort to self-help” and an affront to the law, as the leadership tussle is still pending before the Federal High Court and the Court of Appeal.
Security sources confirmed that officers will be stationed at the secretariat and surrounding areas to maintain order. “The command will not stand by and allow a breakdown of peace,” a senior official stated.
Although the FCT Police spokesperson, Josephine Adeh, remained tight-lipped on specific numbers, the heavy presence is expected to deter any group from taking the law into their own hands.
As both sides refuse to back down, all eyes are on Monday to see if the police can keep the peace or if the PDP crisis will take a darker turn
