The Kano State Governor, Eng Abba Kabir Yusuf has been honoured by Kani Online Media Chape in recognition of the cordial relationship he maintained with journalists and media outlets in the state.
Presenting the Award shortly after a 2-day Retreat for Online Media Journalists at Dutse, the Chapel Chairman, Comrade Abubakar Abdulkadir Dangambo stated that, this was in recognition of Governor Abba’s outstanding support in development of journalism in the state and media in general.
Danganbo nited that Governor Kabir showed strong commitment in matters pertaining to welfare of journalists through capacity building training. This, he said clearly manifested in his characteristic manner of goodwill and affection to various section of the media in the state.
Speaking further, Comrade Abubakar Abdulkadir Dangambo recalled how the state under the stewardship of Governor Abba became the first to establish the first online chapel in the federation and allocated office space for smooth running of chapel’s affairs.
Also honoured along the Governor was the Commissioner of Information and Internal Affairs, Comrade Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya, who the chapel appreciates for the vital role he played in the establishment of the body as well as guidance and continued support up to this moment.
Responding on behalf of Governor Abba Kabir Comrade Waiya thanked the chapel for the honour and assured KOMC that the Governor has acknowledged the gesture and called for the sustenance of the robust relationship between government and the chapel.
He further restates the administration’s resolve of more funding for the development of journalism in this year’s budget. The Commissioner also advised the various cadre working in the industry to aligned themselves with appropriate media professional bodies such as Nigeria Guild of Editors (NGE), Newspaper Proprietors Association of Nigeria (NPAN) etc to enhance career growth and development.
