The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has reported a significant achievement in its counter-banditry campaign, successfully conducting two precision airstrikes on December 28 at Turba Hill and Kachalla Dogo Sule Camp in Tsafe Local Government Area of Zamfara State.
A statement released on Monday said NAF Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, revealed that the operations were launched based on reliable, multi-source intelligence confirming the concentration of high-value bandit leaders and vital logistical assets at the sites.
The airstrikes, he explained, were deliberately aimed at notorious bandit strongholds associated with recent assaults in Zamfara and adjacent states. NAF aircraft delivered targeted strikes to substantially impair the terrorists’ fighting capacity and eliminate their secure bases used for planning and executing attacks on civilians and security personnel.
Post-mission battle damage assessments showed considerable destruction of bandit hideouts and likely supply lines, severely disrupting their operational network.
Air Commodore Ejodame emphasized that the missions strictly adhered to the NAF’s rules of engagement, prioritizing civilian safety and upholding the highest standards of professionalism.
The Nigerian Air Force reiterated its determination to maintain relentless aerial operations in coordination with ground forces until banditry is completely eradicated in the region.
The spokesman highlighted how these successes demonstrate the value of intelligence-led strikes and strong collaboration among security agencies.
He reassured residents of Zamfara and the broader North West that the NAF is fully dedicated to restoring lasting peace and security, while calling on local communities to keep supplying timely and accurate information to support ongoing efforts against the criminals
