Presenting the report, Hon. Aliyu recalled that the budget christened “A Budget of Consolidation and Sustainability II”was earlier presented by Governor Caleb Mutfwang with a proposal ₦914,863,422,871.00.
He stated that the budget is aimed at full commitment to implementing people-oriented projects and programmes, addressing present economic realities, and alleviating the hardships faced by citizens.
According to him, the fiscal plan places emphasis on harnessing natural resources, strengthening partnerships, and attracting development support to boost the Plateau State Development Framework, as encapsulated in the three-pillar policy of the present administration.
Hon. Aliyu further explained that the committee, after scrutinizing MDAs, observed poor revenue performance and manpower shortages, which informed the need to realign expenditure to realistic revenue benchmarks.
He highlighted the importance of timely payment of counterpart funds to unlock more interventions from development partners, including Non-Governmental Organisations and United Nations Agencies.
Lawmakers, in their contributions, lauded the committee for its diligence and described the Appropriation Bill as critical to sustaining growth, strengthening security, and improving citizens’ welfare.
Speaker Rt. Hon. Naanlong Daniel commended members for their robust legislative scrutiny, unity of purpose, and steadfast commitment to good governance.
