Katsina State Government has issued out contracts for the rehabilitation of Ten most dilapidated primary schools in each of the 34 local government areas of the state to 15 selected Contractors.

The exercise is starting with three primary schools in each local govt this year, while the remaining seven have been programmed to be rehabilitated within the 2026 financial year.

This is the beginning of the state of emergency dilapidated primary schools by Gov Radda administration across the state.

Special Adviser LG Inspectorate Hon. Lawal Rufa’i Safana announced this on Tuesday while briefing Newsmen shortly after a meeting with the successful Contractors for the project in his office.

Hon. Lawal Safana explained that during the meeting, the Contractors were issued with the contract award letters and the standard government wants in the execution of the project, adding that even the materials to be used have been stated.

Hon. Lawal Safana chaired the Committee saddled with the responsibility of overseeing the successful completion of the project within a period of 8 weeks.

He emphasised that within the stated period, the Committee will closely monitor and supervise the project, saying the Department will not joke with the responsibility the Governor and the government of the state bestowed on it.

“We have told them clearly that the only way by which we can have peaceful relationship in this exercise is just for the Contractor to do what is expected on what is in the Bill of Quantity and we have instructed them on the kind of materials that are also in the Bill, still we decided to state to them and give it to them separately to ensure that nobody does anything and call it a mistake, we will not tolerate anything that will tarnish our image or integrity.” He added.

The Chairman of the Committee therefore charged the Contractors to consider their integrity which led government to choose them to do the job.
