Katsina State Ministry for Local Government and EmirateMLGEA Concludes 2026 LG Budget Supervision Affairs has concluded the 2026 Local Government Budget formation inspection with Bakori LGA as the last to be covered across the 34 LGAs of the state.
The exercise which was initiated by the Ministry was meant to ensure that local government councils can independently process and prepare budget for their respective LGAs.
The initiative was also to make all local government councils and other stakeholders know the contents of the annual budget allocations for their respective LGAs.
This stimulated the Ministry to set up three Supervisory Committees one for each Senatorial Zone to oversee the performance of local councils in the formation of 2026 Budget allocations and be guided where necessary.
As earlier mentioned from the inception of the three respective Committees, the Committee led by the Hon. Commissioner MLGEA Bishir Tanimu covers 12 LGAs of Katsina North Senatorial Districts, Special Adviser LG Inspectorate Hon. Lawal Rufa’i Safana 11 LGAs of Katsina South, while the Permanent Secretary MLGEA Alhaji Mas’udu Banye covered 11 LGAs of Katsina Central Senatorial District.

The last 13 of the 34 local government councils covered were Mani, Bindawa, Kankia, Ingawa Kusada in Katsina North.
In Katsina South, the last five local government councils covered were Faskari, Danja, Funtua, Sabuwa and Bakori, while in Katsina Central, local government councils of Batagarawa, Rimi, Kaita and Katsina were amicably covered.
The Special Adviser LG Inspectorate Hon. Lawal Rufa’i Safana on behalf of the Ministry recalled that the Ministry under the Honourable Commissioner Bishir Tanimu had organised series of workshops and seminars for relevant LGA staff on Budget allocations formulation process and also directed for the establishment of Budget Units across the 34 LGAs of the state.
Hon. Lawal Safana noted that the strategy had yielded positive results considering the zeal and enthusiasm of the local government council’s staff in processing and formulation of budgetary allocations for their respective LGAs.
The Special Adviser explained that the strategy was also informed by the lapses traced on the past budgetary allocations provided by local Councils, particularly when it comes to defence at the State House of Assembly.

He also explained that if the Executives, Principal Officers, staff and other stakeholders of the local government know what their budget allocations entails, the local councils will find it easier to operate smoothly within the year.
Hon Safana however stressed the importance of boosting the Internally Generated Revenue (IGR), which according to him will attract the increase in the Federal Allocations thereby assists in the smooth operation of the Local Council.
In a remark, the Chairman of Bakori LGA Hon. Abubakar Musa Barde appreciated the initiative of the state MLGEA which awaken the local government staff and applauded the foresight of Governor Malam Dikko Umaru Radda for making the LGAs autonomous.
In a vote of thanks, the Director Administration and Finance of the LGA Alhaji Lawal Ibrahim Danmummuni commended the Commissioner Hon. Bishir Tanimu and the Special Adviser LG Inspectorate Hon. Lawal Rufa’i Safana for their respective efforts of solidifying local government administration in the state.
Highlights of the occasion include the launching of set of Laptop Computer and other accessories for the newly established Budget Unit of LGA.
