Omotenioye Majekodunmi has been appointed the Director-General of the National Council on Climate Change (NCCC), a press release on Thursday from the State House has confirmed
Majekodunmi replaces Dr. Nkiruka Madueke, the pioneer head of the council, who was appointed by the President in June 2024.
The statement described Majekodunmi as a climate finance expert and environmental lawyer with over seventeen years of experience.
Prior to her appointment, Majekodunmi served as the Financial Adviser for the NCCC and is credited for her dedicated service in shaping Nigeria’s climate policies and international engagements.
The statement noted that the fresh appointment is in line with the commitment of the Tinubu administration to tackling the challenges of climate change.
President Tinubu also appreciated the outgoing Director-General, Dr. Madueke, for her dedicated service and the strong foundation she laid for the Council’s continued growth.
