Out of the36 professors that vied for the vice chancellorship of the Federal University, Dutsin-Ma, Katsina state 30 have failed to meet the criteria, outgoing vice chancellor of the university, Professor Armaya’u Hamisu Bichi has said.
The screening was recently conducted by the committee in an open and transparent manner.
Prof Bichi who disclosed this to media saying the committee members did everything with the total fear of Almighty Allah but recorded the success of only 6 of the professors screened.
He said all the 30 professors did not meet the needed requirements to vie for the position of vice chancellor after the sincere and transparent screening by the Senate Committee.
He said 3 of the professors who contested for the slot were from Katsina state, but the home advantage could not help them as they failed to meet the 10 needed criteria during the screening exercises.
Bichi said some of the professors petitioned the committee even before the outcome of the report over their inability to pass the screening.
He added that even in the academic line, there were educational challenges that needed sincere improvement.
But. Professor Bichi said the new vice chancellor would meet the institution in a comfortable position to operate, adding that he secured the release of N6 billion from the African Development Bank for solar projects, N4 billion from TETFund and another N4 billion for capital projects in the university
