KATSINA: LGA Works Department’s Charged to sit up

The Directors of Works of the 34 Local Government Councils in Katsina State have been charged to observe their duty.

Special Adviser Katsina State Department of Local Government Inspectorate Hon Lawal Rufa’i Safana gave the charge Tuesday when he met with the Directors at the Conference Hall of the Ministry for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs Katsina.

The Special Adviser warned that his Department will not condone laxity as according to him, special attention will be given on what they  and the Department do together.

Hon. Lawal Rufa’i Safana expressed the importance of Works Department in the local government system in the sense that the quality of service and what is being seen on ground in the local government council rest on the Department.

” You are very important to this office, whatever we achieve is going to be from what you do at the local government level.what we are not able to achieve is  what you are not able to do.” he said.

He explained the hope that the Directors will strive hard to meet the mandate assigned to them unfailingly.

Lawal Safana acknowledged that alot of ongoing projects are on ground, some have been completed and even paid, while there were others that have since been awarded, but have not yet taken off.

“I am interested in  projects that have already been completed , and expect that you will give us more information and the truth nothing but the truth.”He added.

Earlier, the Director of Works in the Ministry for Local Government  and Chieftaincy Affairs Engineer Umar Faruk Abdullahi advised Works Directors of the LG

Councils to elaborate the challenges  crippling their efforts in the course of their duty..
