The KTSTA is enjoying a near monopoly of road transport in Katsina due to so many factors.

1. Good fleet. One of the key elements that give KTSTA an upper hand in the transport business is the availability of good vehicles. Most of the operational vehicles are good and many, especially after the Governor Dikko Umar Radda gave it additional 40 vehicles last year. This has reduced the burden of managing and maintenance of warnout vehicles. Incidences of vehicles breakdown was highly minimised.

2. Although the cost of transport has increased in Nigeria due to the fuel subsidy removal by the Federal Government, the Katsina State Government instructed KTSTA not increase transport fare on its passengers. This makes KTSTA the cheapest means of movement within and outside the state.

3. The attitudes of the drivers of the KTSTA vehicles drive with extra care making sure that commuters are pleased during their journeys to wherever they go, thus making travelling very entertaining measure.

4. Prudent management of resources. Obviously Governor Dikko Radda has provided all the resources the KTSTA required to function effectively and efficiently in meeting its mandate, the management team under the leadership of Alhaji Haruna Musa Rugoji has demonstrated high quality leadership as  it had taken KTSTA to a greater height.

Last year, KTSTA presented to Governor Dikko Radda 9 brand new buses it has acquired through its earnings. During the presentation the governor expressed satisfaction and delight for efforts of the KTSTA management, calling other government agencies to emulate them.

And last week, the KTSTA did it again. The KTSTA General Manager, Alhaji Haruna Musa Rugoji lead his management team and presented 12 additional vehicles they purchased and added to KTSTA fleet.

In response to the feat while launching new sub-stations for the KTSTA in Mashi and Ingawa Local Government Areas Gov Dikko promised to sustain the subsidy on intra and inter-city journeys in the state.

He further explained that the stations would serve as parking and take-off points for KTSTA vehicles in the local government areas.

The governor said the expansion of KTSTA services to other parts of the state was aimed at easing the transport fare in the face of the high petrol prices.

Radda commended the KTSTA management under the leadership of Alhaji Haruna Musa-Rugoji for ‘transforming the agency’.

Earlier, the KTSTA General Manager, Musa-Rugoji, said the sub-stations were designed with large parking spaces, office accommodation, waiting rooms and verandas to make them conducive for passengers and officials.

He explained that the two new sub-stations would decongest the stations in Daura and Katsina, hence bolster transportation to other parts of the state and beyond.

Mr Musa-Rugoji disclosed that the agency plans to launch new sub-stations in major towns in order to bring public transport closer to the people.

According to him, the agency will continue to purchase new vehicles to provide more revenue to the state and affordable transportation services to the people
