Communities in Funtua Senatorial District of Katsina State have appreciated the initiative of Governor Dikko Umaru Radda for the construction of staff quarters and rehabilitation of 33 selected Clinics in the 11 Local Government Areas of the Senatorial District.
This was disclosed to the Media Team of the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Sffairs, led by the Director Works Engineer Umar Faruk when it visited the 11LGAs of the Senatorial District on a Media tour.
It would be recalled that some months back, the State Ministry for Local Government and Emirate Affairs had secured approval for LGAs from the State Governor for developmental projects and the remodeling of 3 Clinics in each of the 34 LGAs of the state.
The Media Team had visited Primary Healthcare Centers Machika in Sabuwa LGA, being upgraded to General Hospital in Dandume, PHC Mairuwa in Faskari LGA, over hauling work of Tipper and Tanker Trucks at the premises of Funtua LGA Secretariat, as well as Modern Water works at Tudun Iya Village in Funtua LGA.
The Team however visited CHC Bakori, PHC Kahutu in Danja LGA, PHC Kanya in Kafur LGA, PHCs at Dayi and Karfi in M/fashi LGA.
At Kankara LGA, the Team visited PHC Kuka Sheka and that of Kankara town, while at Musawa LGA, the Team visited PHC Tuge and proceeded to PHC Karaduwa in Matazu LGA.
The Team observed that the rehabilitation works of only two out of the total Clinics so far visited were in a very slow phase.
The Team also observed the construction work of staff quarters in most of the clinics have so far been completed, while others were in a finishing stage, and the delivery of Hospital Equipments to many clinics was effected.
While urging the state government to properly engage the Casual health personnel managing most of the Clinics, the benefiting communities were optimistic that Governor Radda will unfailingly redeem all his campaign promises.
In a separate interview, the Village Heads of Mairuwa, Kuka Sheka and Dayi in Faskari, Kankara and M/fashi LGAs applauded the effort’s of Governor Radda and MLGCA as well as Local Councils Chairmen for initiating developmental projects that will ease the life of the common man.
Zonal Chairman of the State Medical and Health Workers Union who is also the State PRO of the Union Comrade Mahmud Junaidu appreciated Governor Radda for initiating the upgrading of Dandume CHC to a General Hospital.
Others who spoke on behalf of their communities Alhaji Salisu Mai Tanki Dandume, Mu’a,zu Chambe Kankara, Sale Mani Sarkin Fadan Kanya Kafur, and Falalu Sale Matazu and Alhaji Bala Muntari Mungafi Musawa described the heathcare delivery initiative of the state Governor as one of the important aspects of delivering good governance to people at the grass root.
Chairmen of the local government areas across the district respectively talked on the improvement so far brought by their Councils through the state government and the MLGCA, which according to them can not be over-emphasized.
In a remark, the leader of the Team Director Works of the Ministry Engineer Umar Faruk charged wanting Contractors handling the projects to ensure speedy completion of their work as no laxity will be tolerated
He also emphasised to the Local Councils Chairmen the importance of quick delivery of Hospital Equipments to all clinics.
