Katsina SUBEB appreciates UBEC

The Executive Chairman Katsina State Universal Basic Education Board, UBEC, Dr Kabir Magaji has commended the Universal Basic Education Commission UBEC for earmarking 2% of the UBE Matching Grants for Quality Assurance to states.

Dr Kabir Magaji disclosed this while declaring open a 3 day workshop training for Quality Assurance Master Trainers in Katsina.

He stated that Quality Assurance is key in the delivery of Basic Education in the State ,adding that the Board relied solely on the Quality Assurance Officers for effective Teaching and Learning.

 In his address, the Executive Secretary Universal Basic Education Commission,Dr Hameed Bobboyi revealed that in an effort to ameliorate issues of poor funding and low standard in the Naton’s Public Basic Education institutions, the Commission has came up with policies, structure and programmes where states were given the approval to utilise 2% funds from Matching Grants for Quality Assurance activities

Dr Bobboyi represented by an official from the commission, Alhaji Sahabu Basadu stated that the commission is setting standard for all Quality Assurance Officers and the need to ensure the standard were sustained and improved upon for efficiency and effectiveness

Also speaking, the Director Quality Assurance of the commission, Mrs okoro HE stressed that the commission has anticipated the Quality Assurance Officers would rise and ensure effective Teaching and Learning and functional Schools Administration are entrenched and maintained in our basic education Schools in line with minimum standard of Education in Nigeria

Earlier the Director Quality Assurance of the Board, Alhaji Badaru Ado has mentioned that the training was mainly organised for 25 Master Trainers who eventually emerged as the best out of 100 that received 3 levels of Quality Assurance training in the State

In a vote of thanks the Board Secretary, Dr Isah Idris Zakari expressed his appreciation to the chief executives of The Board and the Commission for their concerted efforts at improving the standard of Basic Education in the State
