Farmers have been urged to take farming as business and create many businesses opportunity for youth and Women, while the state will also have an increased production of cash crops that will attract foreign investors to Katsina State
The Special adviser on political affairs and Katsina State Chairman of AFAN Rt Hon. Ya’u Umar Gwajo-Gwajo stated that at the meeting organized by Himma Agricultural Support Association in collaboration with Farmers Commodity Association at Saidu Barda (Old) Government House.
Gwajogwajo said if our teaming Youth have a source of income, none of them will think of any criminal acts. He said a busy mind would have no time for banditry, kidnapping or any other form of crimes.
He said the present administration under the leadership of Malam Dikko Umaru Radda PhD. CON has taken the Agricultural Sector as one of its priorities by looking 85% of the State population were Farmers. He also advises State Youth and Women to go into various Agricultural sector there are many opportunities in this sector.

Himma Agricultural Support Initiative said the president of the Himma Agricultural Support Association Professor Sanusi Jari said the membership of this association were drawn from University Lecturers, retired Agricultural Civil Servant and specialist in other fields.
He also said the association is ever ready to support the effort of Malam Dikko Radda lead administration in providing food security, job creation through provision of improved seed to farmers across 361 Wards at their doorStep,
The statement further said the association will work hand in hand with the State Government and State Chapter of AFAN for a joint support and collaboration to assist Katsina State Farmers in Various Field of Agriculture
.
In his presentation during the meeting the Secretary of the association Alh Muhammad S Muhammad said the association tag its name “Malam Dikko Radda Seed production and Climate Resilient Seed Support and Production Initiative”.
The programme will be implemented in 3 years, in first Phase HASI is ever ready for collaboration with the State Government to Support the production of improved Seed through selected communities out growers to Seven Crops which include Millet, Sorghum, Maize, Groundnut, Cowpea, Sesame and Soya Beans.
The association will work hand in hand with the State Government Agricultural Stakeholders so as to actualize the aim and objective of the programme in support of Governor Radda agricultural policies and programmes.
During this meeting 37 commodities association were in attendance were they individually contributed by voicing their achievements and their challenges
.
In his vote of thanks, the Chairman of Paddy Rice Association Katsina State Alh Hamisu Ibrahim Magam thanked the organizers of this meeting, its only through such meetings the commodity association will unite themselves also Ministry of Agriculture and livestock development will have access to Farmer data at their doorstep.
He also advises the commodity association to support Mal Dikko Radda leadership by sourcing varius Agricultural Support from Federal Government or through some donor agencies to the benefit of farmers in the State. According to him his association got such support of farm inputs and farm implements from Federal Government which will soon be distributed to farmers at Sabke Dam Irrigation Site of Mai’adua Local Government.
