The Kebbi State Government has been urged to give priority to the health sector in its budget.
under the able leadership of Governor Dr Nasir Idris Kauran Gwandu to patriotise health sector in it budgetary
Participants at a 7 day training on Maternal Infant And Young Child Nutrition (MIYCN) held at Kamba Annex Motel in Birnin Kebbi made the call.in Birnin KEBBI.
National Facilitate, Halima Musa Yakasai made the call shortly after the closure of the training, noting that if more funds were allocated to health ministry, training and refresher training on health workers will continue as expected which at the end will yield a positive result.
According to her, many health facilities incharge needed a training and refresher training especially on Nutrition for the society to get behavioural change.
Also a Nutrition Specialist and Chairman Nutrition Society Of Nigeria, Auwal Aliyu Ahmed said, Kebbi State has experienced health workers but, lack of training on certain health areas particularly on Nutrition. .
He therefore called on the state government to patriotise its activities on training and re -training of health workers because nobody can do anything without good health.
While unveiling their experiences after the training to the media, Usman Umar Gwabare officer in charge of PHC Tari in Gwandu local government said ” i learnt more about Nutrition especially on the required diet of food for an average man and woman as well as pregnant women including the new-born babies supposed to eat on daily basis,I was taught also on the importance of Breastfeeding for six months and allow pregnant women to visit hospital for ANC and other treatment up to the time of their delivery ” he added.
Malam Rahana from PHC Maidahini in Bunza local government expressed her gratitude to both Nutrition International and Kebbi State Primary Healthcare Development Agency ( KBSPHCDA ) for organising such important training which she described as timely. She said she will digest all what she consumed during the training to clients at her facility.
Also Bashir Auwal a Staff at PHC Sarandosa in Maiyama local government said, he was satisfied with the inputs he got from the training organised by Nutrition and in partnership with Kebbi State Primary Healthcare Development Agency ( KBSPHCDA) ” when I go back home, will extend same to our attendees in our facility “
Similarly, Hauwa’u Adamu Birnin Kebbi, OIC PHC Birnin Kebbi noted that what they learned from the training is just a refresher training on what they have been doing previously at their facility. ” So this is just an added advantage to what we have been doing everyday in our facility and therefore we shall continue to offer such experiences to our clients in order to have a healthy society “
