A Non-governmental Organisation(NGO), Society For Women Development And Empowerment in Nigeria (SWODEN) in collaboration to with Association of Women Living with HIV/Aids in Nigeria (ASWHAV) Kebbi State chapters have organised a one-day Sensitisation workshop on the importance of nutrition in the society.
Speaking with Journalists during the workshop held at the Conference Hall of Women Affairs, Birnin Kebbi, Executive Director ASWHAV and SWODEN Focal Person in Kebbi State, Ms Esther Hiindi said no fewer than 100 participants were drawn from five local government areas of the state which includes Gwandu, Augie, Bunza, Maiyama and Argungu.
” These participants which we called them male motivators and most of them are Households were Sensitised on behavioural challenge interaction in gender particularly on menstrual children under the age of 5 years as well as pregnant women. “Hindi said.
She added that at the end, these male motivators will go back home and sensitises their wives on the importance of visiting hospitals for ANC and child mortality and menstrual by the pregnant women.
Hindi therefore appealed to Households and other participants to use what they grasped from the workshop by changing the present-day culture of not allowing women to visit hospital for Anti-Natal -Care( ANC) and other nutrition for their safety.
She commended the Kebbi State government under Governor, Nasir Idris Kauran Gwandu and Nutrition International Office in the state for their collaborations towards the success of the workshop.
She was optimistic at the end of workshop all problems associated with Menstrual, ANC , Child mortality and other nutrition hazards will be reduced dramatically in the selected local government areas .
