The Edo State Governor,Godwin Obaseki has vowed to burn Nigeria  if the police do not arrest those responsible for the murder of Inspector Akor Onuh at the Benin City Airport.

But the All Progressives Congress, APC in Edo State considered the remarks that such inflammatory rhetoric are unacceptable, especially with the gubernatorial elections approaching on September 21.threfore urged the Edo State House of Assembly to initiate impeachment proceedings against the governor.

In response, Governor Obaseki has defended himself through  his commissioner stating, “The APC is misrepresenting the governor’s comments.” The spokesperson clarified that the governor was expressing concerns about unrest if free and fair elections are not upheld, rather than making threats.

This situation highlights the complexities in Nigerian politics as elections approach. The APC’s impeachment call emphasizes the contentious nature of political discourse and the risks of escalating rhetoric. It is important to monitor reactions from leaders and the implications for governance and security in Edo State.
