The African Union has selected a new chairman for the 2024 tenure
He is Mohamed Ould Ghazouani of President of Mauritania.
His selection took place on Saturday, February 17 during the ongoing 37th Ordinary Session of the Assembly of the African Union (AU) Heads of State and Government in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia..
Ghazouani takes over from President Azali Assoumani of the Union of Comoros, who was the Chairperson for 2023.
