mThe Tudun Biri community of Igabi Local Government Area in Kaduna State, bombed by the military in December last year are reportedly abandoned to their fate.

The Daily Trust reported the Kaduna State governor,  Sen. Uba Sani saying the plan to rebuild the community “is not going.. accordingly and called on the military authorities to increase the presence of their men in the area.

The community was bombed on December 3, 2023, mistakenly by the military and killed over 100 villagers who were celebrating Maulud in the community.

The bombing generated condemnation across the country, compelling the federal government to agree on compensation to the victims’ families and rebuilding the community.

But Gov Uba Sanu lamented the plan to rebuild the community was suffering some setbacks.

At a security meeting with traditional rulers and local government chairmen from some local government areas experiencing resurgence of terror attacks  Tuesday, Governor Sani said his administration has been actively pursuing the deployment of more troots on the ground through additional military formations in the state.

“I will, however, appeal to the military and the police to increase their presence in the Tudun Biri general area in view of threats arising from efforts to rebuild the community after the unfortunate incident of last year.

“Our administration is fully committed to the security and safety of the whole of Kaduna State because security is the cornerstone for the realization of our SUSTAIN Agenda,” he said.

In strategizing to deal with the resurgence of security challenges in the state, the governor disclosed that it is exploring the possibility of establishing the Kaduna State Security Trust Fund as a means of collaborating with corporate organizations, the business community, industrialists, professional groups, individuals and all critical stakeholders towards enhancing material and logistic support to security forces.

He stated that the purpose of the security meeting was to brainstorm on the situations in certain areas of interest, notably Kauru, Kajuru, Birnin Gwari, Igabi, Chikun, Kachia, Kagarko and the Kaduna-Abuja road.

He also stated that there will be the establishment of some Forward Operating Bases (FOBs) in the state, emphasizing that the move will greatly assist in the expansion of campaigns against terrorists and bandits in frontline locations.
