The Government of Zamfara States has dismissed the allegations levelled against Gov Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State that he was planning to incite instability in the North.
Refuting the allegations, Alhaji Suleiman Bala Idris, spokesperson to the Zamfara State Government said those who made the allegations are hired agents out to distract the government from addressing issues affecting the residents of Zamfara State and mislead Nigerians.
“In fact we need not to respond to such diversions at the moment, ” Idris has said
Recall that the Arewa Youth Consultative Forum (AYCF) and the Northern Emancipation Network (NEN) have raised the alarm over alleged plans by Zamfara state government to .incite instability in the North.
The group called on the federal government to deal decisively with every trouble maker while appealing to the Supreme Court justices to meticulously consider the facts before them when delivering their verdict.
In a statement released by the President General of AYCF, Yerima Shettima, the organisation disclosed that it has received credible information regarding Governor Daudu Lawal’s intention to finance protests across the northern region for personal political gain.
The AYCF alleged that Governor Lawal is planning to orchestrate these protests in a bid to tarnish the image of his predecessor, Bello Mohammed Matawalle, and hold him responsible for any ensuing chaos.
The organisation is thus calling on the federal government, particularly the Department of Security Services, to closely monitor his activities to prevent any surprises.
“We caution the people of Zamfara to remain vigilant and wary of the direction their government is taking, while also resisting any attempts to incite them into untoward actions,” Yerima said.
The AYCF further revealed that Governor Lawal’s tactics are aimed at preempting the forthcoming judgment of the Supreme Court in the Governorship Elections petition involving Matawalle.
As such, the organisation has urged the Supreme Court to stand firm, not be intimidated, and ensure fair and just dispensation of justice.
“We specifically call on the esteemed Justices of the Supreme Court to resolve the disputed 98,000 votes in favor of Matawalle and declare him as the rightful winner of the March 2023 election,” he said.
The AYCF expressed its committment in promoting peace and stability in the North and urged all stakeholders to work together in ensuring that the region continues to prosper.

In a separate statement, NEN has issued a fervent call to the federal government to take proactive measures in dealing with any form of dissent or incitement to misconduct that may arise from the outcome of the expected Supreme Court ruling on the Zamfara Governorship appeal.
NEN emphasised the importance of ensuring the stability of the country, urging the government to be prepared and steadfast in the face of any desperate attempts to subvert it.
The Chairman of NEN, Suleiman Abbah, highlighted the fact that the use of Biomodal Voters’ Accreditation System (BVAS) in elections is not a mandatory provision of the law.
Consequently, the group called on the court to resolve the dispute in favor of Matawalle Bello, recognising him as the bonafide winner of the election.
