KTSSB Executive Secretary honoured by KFGSD

Katsina State Scholarship Board, in collaboration with the Katsina State First Class Graduates for Sustainable Development, (KFGSD) proposes to extend support to physically challenged students across all tertiarn.b in Katsina State.

This was disclosed in a state signed and issued by Salisu Lawal Kerau. Public Relations Officer, Katsina State Scholarship Board.
This assertion was made known by the Executive Secretary, Katsina State Scholarship Board Dr Aminu Salisu Tsauri when he received the President of the Association Mr. Idris Zubairu Ka’ida and his entourage in his office.
Dr. Aminu Salisu reiterated his unwavering commitment towards improving the welfare of Katsina State Students most especially the Students with special needs.
 According to him, we need to explore and tap the potentialities of the physically challenged students in our society for them to feel the sense of belonging and to make the optimum utilisation of their  talents for societal development and nation building.
The Executive Secretary briefly highlighted some of the achievements so far recorded since his assumption into office that include the introduction of the Katsina State Government award of academic excellence which was recently launched by His Excellency the Governor of Katsina State Mal. Dikko Ummaru Radda PhD.
The programme gave a total of 210 Students a smiling face drawn from some tertiary institutions in the State who excelled in their various disciplines with a cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 4.50  and above, where the Governor in his own volition exhibited leadership by example by making a personal donation to each of the 210 students with the sum of N50,000.
The aim of the programme was, among others, to reward hardwork, encourage academic competition that will eventually ensure academic excellence.
Earlier in his remarks the President of the association lamented the lack of support to the students with special needs where he cited an instance of one of the students who could be described as one of the best brains in the State that secured a foreign scholarship worth about 50 million naira but unfortunately lost the opportunity due to lack of support for the cost of mere air ticket.
High lights of the visit was the presentation of an award of honour to the executive secretary by the President of the association in recognition of his outstanding performance in improving the plight of the Students of Katsina State.
