Katsina maintains good relations with the media, solicites for  more


The Government of Katsina State, Northwest Nigeria has pledged to maintain and build on the cordial relationships with the media in the state.

The pledge was made by  Dr Salisu Bala Zango, the state Information Commissioner during an interactive session with various media representatives in Katsina on Wednesday.

He observed that the state government policies and programmes were not been given the required coverage, but said hindrances to such inadequacies of government activities by the media would be looked into with a view to making necessary amend.

He said the present administration in the state is media friendly and will be willing to build on the existing cordial working relationship with journalists in the state.

The Commissioner urged the media to be patient with the administration as his ministry will continue to give listening ears to working journalists to enable them carry out their responsibilities of giving the government the adequate publicity it deserves.

Zango also called on the media practitioners in the state to always endeavor to cross check their facts from the necessary government organizations before going to the press.

On the various complaints about government lack of patronization of the media in the state, the Commissioner promised to meet with his principal to discuss issues raised to find lasting solutions to enable the state move forward.

He appealed for cooperation, understanding and support from the media representatives for adequate media coverage and reportage of government activities to enable the larger society to understand the perception of the new administration in the state
